Dear Mark, Since
we left Nice in April 06, we’ve been
along the French coast to Menton before
the Ligurian coast, stopping at Loano,
Portofino and La Spezia. We then crossed
to Portoferraio in Elbe before leaving
the boat in Corsican Bastia in May. In
June we continued round N Corsica via St
Florent, L’ille Rousse, Calvi, and on to
Ajaccio where we took the boat out of
the water for the busy July-August. I
September we crossed to Sardinia via
Propriano and Bonifacio and down the W
coast to Alghero. Then we went back
through the Bonifacio Strait to the
Costa Smeralda, before crossing to Rome
at the end of September to overwinter
the boat at Ostia. In April 07 we set
off for the Amalfi coast via Anzio,
Ponza, Ischia, Procida and Baia to Capri
via Sorrento. Then
Amalfi, Salerno, Acciaroli, Scario,
Maratea, Tropea, Gioia, Touro and on to
Positano in the Messina Straits of
Sicily, where the boat now is.
The rest of the year will take us around
Sicily and its islands, around the boot
of Italy and into the Adriatic for the
winter. Next year’s plan is to go up
the Italian Adriatic to Venice, before
coming south again on the Croatian side
and into Greece at Corfu. 2009 in
Greece, 2010 in Turkey, then who knows?
